One of the most overlooked yet tedious tasks while designing a website or software application across all platforms is creating icons. Finding or creating the right images suitable for each project and then converting them into icons astonishingly takes a lot more time and manpower than you’d normally expect. That is exactly the reason why pre-designed icon packages are so popular with website and software designers across a variety of industries these days. Desktop Boss Icons 2013 is one such package, and it offers a surprising range of ‘Boss’ icons to choose from.
The package is a measly 1.1MB, but is filled with a variety of detailed icon images that represent various kinds of people in charge–male and female bosses, army officials or a king and queen. There are comical additions too like a Mexican honcho and even a Superman icon, which makes the package much more versatile for usage in any kind of webpage and applications or printed materials. The collection also offers diverse choices on other fronts and not just different images; you can not only pick from 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x4 or 256x256 pixel, 32 bit icons with alpha-channel transparency, but also choose between different formats too. In addition to that, normal, highlighted and disabled versions of each icon are also supplied in the package. The only downside with the package is possibly its price – most people might find its price too expensive for a just specific collection of icons. But we do have to keep in mind that the icons are also royalty free, meaning that they can be used anywhere free of cost after purchase.
All in all, the package delivers whatever it claims to deliver in the first place – a set of nicely-made, high-quality icons representing bosses. It certainly makes designing websites and applications a lot easier. But as mentioned before, the price-tag is a little too steep and for it, it earns a rating of 2.5 stars from us.
